The Foundation only supports Ohio organizations for projects related to learning opportunities within the state of Ohio. Organizations and projects outside of Ohio are not eligible for support.
The Foundation does not accept requests from individuals who are not affiliated with an organization. Applicants must be Ohio based organizations with a 501(c)(3) public charity status or be an educational entity that is exempt from federal income tax and eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions. Proof of that status is required with each application.
The Foundation supports projects that promote learning that results in an increase of knowledge and growth to individuals and their families. The concept of teaching people to fish for lifelong success is a guiding principle in choosing the initiatives to support.
We look for organizations that have the know-how and history of putting together successful programs where learning occurs. We look for projects that have a detailed plan and budget.
Our support cannot involve the provision of athletic facilities or athletic equipment. We do not support political initiatives. View the "past grant recipient list" on this website for further information.
Applications are reviewed to ensure they meet the required criteria.
The Foundation Board reviews the projects that meet the requirements for desired outcome, number of individuals who will benefit from the project, long-term impact, feasibility of the plan, and probability of success with the amount of money requested.
Each June, we will notify organizations who submitted eligible applications within the past year as to whether their project will or will not be funded. If funded, the amount may be full or partial.
Our Board consists of multi-generation family members with a variety of skills and interests. We share a love for education, science, music, and Christianity.
"We are beyond grateful for community stakeholders who understand the importance of contributions and donations that help reinforce the progress we are working to achieve in the district. We truly thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity to our schools."
"The F&P guided reading books will be used for years to come. They will make such a positive impact for our students! Thank you for your generosity!"
"Thank you so much for the Chaffee Family Foundation’s support of our virtual STEM programming during a particularly challenging school year. With your support, we served over 2,500 students from Title I schools with virtual field trip experiences."
"Thank you to the donor who made our field trip and Big Science Show possible. The Science Center field trip for 3rd graders has become a tradition for our students. In fact, last year our trip was just weeks before the world shut down. You made the 3rd grade class so happy that they were not 'skipped' for this year."
"Dear Chaffee foundation, thank you for getting us the books. You were so kind. You are really nice. They are so helpful. The books help us read and learn. We want to be authors like the ones who wrote the books! Have a good day."
